Cycling Tutorial: Sprints
How fast is fast? We're talking about sprints! Sprints are a staple of a cycling class. Bringing attention to your form and awareness to your amount of effort can maximize the output from this hard work.
What is a sprint?
A sprint on a bike is pedaling your feet as fast as you can at an appropriate resistance level while maintaining control.
What is safe form while sprinting?
Some things to keep in mind while sprinting to keep your body safe and free from injury are:
- Keep your core engaged.
- Maintain control of your pedal stroke by employing enough resistance to feel work in your legs.
- If you find you are bouncing in the saddle, add more resistance.
- Relax your shoulders away from your ears.
- Maintain a light grip on your handlebars.
