What’s “Choreography” in a spin class and is it something you’ll enjoy
You've read some spin class descriptions and you keep seeing the word "choreography" in them. What's this all about? Are we talking Beyonce's Superbowl halftime show choreography or your grandmother's aqua fitness class?
Don't worry, it's not either of those!
Choreography in a spin class isn't for everyone, so it's important that you know a little bit about it so you can make an informed decision on what classes you want to try.
Simply put, choreography in a spin class is repetitive movements that correspond to the song being played.
This doesn't mean you need to be Beyonce's back up dancer to join in. The instructor is going to lead you through each movement, count it out for you, and help you every [pedal] step of the way. Plus, you never have to do it unless you want to - it's your ride!
Some examples of choreography moves include: pushups, tap backs, jumps, and more.
Wait... what are those you ask?!
It's easiest if we show you what some of these moves are. Check out our YouTube playlist that breaks different moves you might see in a class (see below).
It's important to us that you know what class is going to be like when you sign up. The best way to start your experience with us, is knowing what you're signing up for! Our Cycle, Cycle Express, and Cycle Booty Burn classes all include a variety of choreography, the level in each class depends on the instructor and playlist. Our Just Ride and Just Ride Express classes limit the amount of choreography to very little, but you still may see a tad here and there.
