What to Expect
Each individual has a different experience in their sound experience. Approach each session you attend with an open mind. If at any point you feel you need to leave the session, quietly gather your things and leave.
Sound experience sessions are not recommended for pregnant women in their first trimester and should not be attended if you have a pacemaker.
How to Prepare
Come about 10 minutes early to your session wearing loose fitting clothing that you are comfortable in. Set your space up so you will be comfortable. You can use any props we have available in the studio to support yourself. Be well hydrated and make sure to alert the sound facilitator if you feel there is anything they should know prior to the session.
How it works
Science + Mystery
Sound energy practice is both science and mystery, but most importantly, an individual journey for each person based on your lived experiences and body.
Sound waves are created by various instruments, such as Tibetan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, chimes, gongs, drums, and more. These waves are converted into electrical signals by your brain - which triggers responses. Some of these responses can release hormones (such as dopamine, oxytocin, etc), shift your emotions, and create movement. One of the main affects that sound waves have on your body is activating your parasympathetic nervous system (or rest and digest). This system can:
- Decrease stress and anxiety
- Decrease blood pressure
- Improve sleep
- Increase focus and creativity
- Reduce inflammation
- ... and more
How so the waves activate this system though? Through entrainment. Entrainment describes how a powerful vibration or sound of one object can cause the less powerful object (or person) to adjust their vibration to the more powerful vibration.
The vibration from your sound experience works with your body on a cellular level to alter your brain waves into alpha and theta waves. Alpha brain wave activity is associated with being physically and emotionally relaxed. Theta brain waves are associated with deep meditation, creativity, day dreams, etc. Both states of brain wave activity allow your body to restore itself.
The mystery is how each individual is affected differently by different sounds. So many factors can help to shape your experience, such as how hydrated you are, how much sleep you've had, your stress level, the humidity in the room, and more.
There is a theory that sound energy can create pathways or currents that allow your body to release unwanted energy.
You may notice affects after one session, or it may take several sessions to notice any differences.
Private Sound Sessions
Individual attention so your specific energetic body is balanced through a private sound session. Expect each session to start with a short discussion about your needs and intention for your session. Karyna will work with you intuitively throughout the session to assist in balancing your energetic body.
Come prepared to share your intention and any current health concerns. Wear comfortable clothing and be expected to lay in a comfortable position on the floor.
Sessions are available in 30 or 60 minute time slots. A portion of that time is used for discussion.
30 minute session: $40
60 minute session: $75
Sessions are available during the following days, weekly:
Sundays 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Tuesdays 7:15pm - 9:00pm
Saturdays noon - 1:00pm
